(Griswold, IA) — The High School Football officially begins tonight and in a Week Zero 8 Man Match Up, East Mills visits Griswold; coverage on KSOM.
The Tigers return just about everybody from last year’s 1-8 team and Head Coach Seth Lembke will be needing improvement across the board. Junior Dain Laverty took over the Quarterback spot in mid season and Lembke says he has improved a lot in the passing game. Senior Alex Rasmussen returns at tailback — Junior Colton Frieze and Freshman Easton Orstad will also contribute. Frieze was the leading tackler last year and will start again at Linebacker. Lembke will use a rotation up front on the defensive side
This is the third year in a row that these two teams have played — East Mills won in Overtime last year and Lembke hopes the third time is a charm
East Mills is coming off a 4-5 season and decided to make a switch at QB — Mason Camden took the majority of snaps at the position but co Head Coach Michael Nordeen says they are going in a different direction this year and start a Sophomore Khayden Poorker
The Wolverines lose their top two rushers from last year so will use a rotation at tailback to start this season — Senior Landon Gibbs and Junior Curtis Jackson will be the top two guys and they will both lead the defense as well.
Nordeen says that Griswold is a little bigger than his Wolverine team
East Mills visits Griswold, Pre Game at 6:30, Kickoff 7:00 pm; video on You Tube at Western Iowa Today TV and on 96.5 FM KSOM.
