(Red Oak, IA) — Red Oak has high hopes for a turnaround in their football team this fall. After going 2-6 last year, the Tigers will open in Week Zero and will play 9 games and will get to have a scrimmage at Creston this Friday. Second year Head Coach Allen Gray will make some changes on both sides of the ball including a new quarterback who can run the football
Gray is looking for more balance on offense after only getting 371 yards rushing last year. Gray likes some of his other skill guys who can play a number of different positions
Dalton Free will play middle linebacker and Perdue will lead the defense. Sophomore Sawyer Perdue only played half of last season because of injury but still made All District at Defensive End — Gray calls him the Phenom.
Red Oak has only won two games each of the last three seasons but Gray says there are signs of this team turning things around
Red Oak is in Class 1A, District 8 with Underwood, Tri Center, Treynor, Shenandoah and Missouri Valley. They have been cleared to add a 9th game on their schedule and will play Riverside on August 21.
