(Guthrie Center, IA) — Jotham Arbor — the Director of Health Services for Guthrie County — presented his year end report to the Guthrie County Supervisors at Tuesday’s meeting.
Arbor mentions that his department now covers Adair County which will end some confusion in their Stuart office
Arbor mentions they will pick up on immunizations later this month at health fairs. He has also pre booked their flu shots which will be offered for free this fall. Arbor says his department issued 161 new passports and 244 passport renewals.
Arbor says there were only 14 animal bites reported in the last year which is a decline from last year and he is working on working on a packet on dangerous animal bites
Arbor says his department purchased additional radios for emergency preparation which were used during RAGBRAI which he says was good training for his department
Arbor says they increased water tests in the county by 20 percent. Arbor says the mental health department continues to expand and he is interviewing another prospective employee — he is looking at Guthrie being the lead county in a regionalization plan.
Finally, as of June, Arbor says the transfer station has brought in 8,532 tons of garbage which is an increase of about 700 tons from last year. Most of the increase is due to construction with two big projects and 8 houses torn down in the last year.
