(Avoca, IA) — AHSTW Softball finished 10-15 this season which is a five win improvement over 2025 and the Lady Vikes were extremely young. Head Coach Katie Pace only loses one senior Halle Goodman who was the primary pitcher with a 4.20 ERA in 11 starts and 17 appearances. Junior Kendra Hansen battled some injuries but made seven starts and while 8th grader Rylinn Madden had a high 8.81 ERA in 7 starts, she shows a lot of potential — not only in the circle but she hit .500 which is one of the best hitting seasons in AHSTW history according to Pace.
The Lady Vikes had two juniors this year — Hansen and Bella Lamp who hit .292 and Pace says they are both strong leaders
Some other young players on the rise include Freshman Mae Rice (.417); Sophomore Reece Knop; Sophomore Kadence Coolidge; Sophomore Clara Pace (.327). Coach Pace says they need to develop confidence over the off-season
AHSTW had won at least 10 games a season for 20 out of the last 21 seasons until last year which was their lowest win total since 2009.
