(Atlantic) The United Church of Christ in Atlantic is asking for the community’s help as it prepares for its annual Back to School Bash school supply giveaway on Sunday, August 10. Pastor Heather Santi-Brown says the event is a dream of one of their leaders, Dani Bateman, and is partnering with the team “Gathering Meals” to celebrate the end of summer and getting kids back to school. The “Gathering Meals” group will provide the meal. The United Church of Christ is working with Brown’s Shoe Fit in Atlantic and is raffling off four pairs of kids’ shoes, along with hair stylists providing haircuts for students heading back to school. The event will be held at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the meal starting at 5:00 p.m., and is open to all Cass County students.
The event will provide free school supplies to Cass County students, helping families prepare for the upcoming school year. Organizers are currently seeking donations of new school supplies and monetary contributions from local businesses and community members.

Needed items include backpacks, notebooks, folders, pencils, crayons, markers, glue sticks, glue bottles, and other classroom essentials. All donations will go directly to local students and families participating in the giveaway. Businesses that support the event will be recognized during the Back to School Bash with a list of sponsors displayed at the event. Organizers also plan to recognize supporters in a social media post following the event. Pastor Heather says so far they have over 1,200 items donated for the event. Some of the items still needed are backpacks, cleaning products such as hand santizers, and disifectants, and corded headphones.
Anyone interested in donating school supplies or making a financial contribution can contact the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. Organizers are available to arrange pickup or drop-off of donated items.
The church says it is proud to serve the community and hopes to partner with local businesses and residents to help ensure Cass County students have the supplies they need for a successful start to the new school year.
