(Audubon, IA) — The Audubon School Board will vote tonight on whether to approve the athletic sharing agreement with Exira EHK. Audubon would share athletics for four years for all girls sports except volleyball and three years for all boys sports except varsity football. All Junior High sports would NOT be shared except for football. The two school districts have already shared in softball, wrestling and girls basketball. In hoops, Audubon only has three participants so therefore is unable to field a team. For the last couple of years, there were no girls basketball games at Audubon High School and School Board Vice President Anne Miller says that is a big deal
Last season, Exira EHK girls basketball went to the state tournament with all the games played in Elk Horn. Under the new shared agreement, more games would be played in Audubon and the team’s name would be the Exira EHK Audubon Spartans just like the softball team this summer. Audubon Athletic Director Sean Birks says the scheduling will be shared between the two schools
Birks is recommending that the school board approve the sharing agreement for the following reasons
The School Board will meet at 7:00 pm tonight.
