(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC Softball had a young team this past season but improved by 5 wins to a 7-23 season. The Chargers will lose two seniors and both starters — Caydence Boals led the team in hitting with a .412 average and 20 RBI and Karli Kautzky hit .257. Head Coach Tyler Merical says they set the standard for the rest of the team
In the off season, AC/GC will have to see continual improvement from their pitchers — Sophomore Megan Underwood emerged as the #1 starter with a 5.62 ERA and Freshman Jerzee Huss had a 5.65 ERA. They both had 15 starts and neither pitcher throws very hard but Merical says they have showed some positive signs in the circle
Olivia Mahaffey is the only junior on the team so the Chargers will be young again next year — the core of the team is young with Freshman Kailee Kautzky hitting .398 and Huss batting .358
Trinity Calhoun is another talented freshman and Kiera Boals started every game as a sophomore. 8th graders Camdyn Coffman and Monroe Fagan also saw time for AC/GC
