Angela Kay Brisbois, daughter of Willis “Rocky” and Dora (Hansen) Rock, was born on June 21, 1962 in Harlan, Iowa. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, where she was confirmed and baptized. She graduated from Avo-Ha High School in 1980. Following graduation, Angie attended Iowa Western Community College and took classes in CNA, Activity Coordinator, and Child Care programs.
Angie married Joe Brisbois and to this union had two children: Shannon and Lance. The two later divorced and she found a life companion in Dennis McGill. Angie’s love of service to others was evident in her employment over the years. For many years, Angie ran an in-home daycare so she could be home and spend time with Shannon and Lance. She later worked for Underwood Schools and then for Longview Home as an activity coordinator. She volunteered many hours at Headstart and for the Alzheimer’s walk. She enjoyed helping Shannon & Lance with school and 4-H projects. Angie had a very lively personality, could talk to anyone, and was always so kind to everyone she encountered. She was a “second mother” to many kids in her life. She loved listening to music, dancing, swimming, and serving others. Even during her toughest days battling chronic pain, she remained kind, positive, and always put others above herself. She spent the last seven years adoring her grand-dog, Wrigley, who never left her side.
On Thursday, July 9, 2026, Angie passed away surrounded by loved ones at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, having attained the age of 64 years and 18 days. She was preceded in death by her dad Willis “Rocky” Rock; sister-in-law Stacy Rock; and nephew Kevin Brisbois.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Shannon Brisbois of West Des Moines, IA; Lance Brisbois of Pacific Junction, IA; mother Dora Rock of Avoca, IA; significant other Dennis McGill; brothers Gary Rock of Clarinda, IA; Kyle Rock of Avoca, IA; other family and many friends.
