(Marshall Co.) Two people died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Marshall County Sunday evening.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 9:23 p.m. on 295th Street.
Authorities say 31-year-old Brandon Overman, of Rhodes, was operating a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on 295th Street when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a marked no-passing zone. Investigators say Overman was unable to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway.
The motorcycle slid into a ditch and vaulted, ejecting both occupants.
Overman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, 27-year-old Chandler Kendall, of Rhodes, was transported by Mercy Life Flight to Mercy Hospital, where they later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident remains under investigation.
