(Audubon) At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Audubon County Board of Supervisors discussed the possible transfer of ownership of county-owned Edwards Park.
Audubon County Supervisor Chair Kent Grabil says that in the early 1920’s, a family member donated a six-acre piece of land to be turned into a park. Grabil says that over the years, this piece of property was passed down among several landowners. Then, in 1971, Audubon County purchased the six-acre tract for $200.00 per acre. Grabil says Audubon County Conservation has been in charge of this property. Now, the original landowners’ family would like to buy it back.
Grabil says that from a County Conservation perspective, the property is being used as a hunting and wildlife area.
Grabil says the issue has been turned over to the County Attorney, and the County Conservation Director is looking into their records. He says the board will try to get back together at the July 21 Board of Supervisors meeting to see what they can come up with moving forward.
