(Guthrie Center, IA) — Brad Halterman, the Guthrie County Conservation Director gave his departmental update at Tuesday’s supervisors meeting. Halterman asked to shuffle $5,000 to the reserve funds in the budget to work on two different projects on the Raccoon River Valley Trail
The supervisors will put together a resolution to make the changes at next week’s meeting.
Halterman says that the Historical Village will host the Farmer’s Market this Saturday from 9 am to Noon and that the new Guthrie County tourism books are out. He says that people are camping and people are using the trails at good levels
At Nation’s Bridge Park, the new restrooms project has been completed and a new interpretative trail is now open. Halterman says they will be installing a new water monitoring system at the park. There have been questions about whether there will access to the park during the 4th of July weekend because of construction in the area and Supervisor Maggie Armstrong says it will only be open in one direction
Halterman also reported that the county is now managing state owned land at Linden Mill Park near Panora which mostly involves mowing but he says the area needs better access to the river in case of emergencies.
