(Clarinda) The Atlantic softball team got the bats going with a 16-2 win on the road at Clarinda on Tuesday.
The Trojans scored 16 runs on 12 hits, led by Lila Wiederstein, Jillian Saathoff, Makenna Schroeder, and Zoey Kirchhoff. Saathoff went 3-4 with 2 RBI, Wiederstein was 2-3 with two doubles and four RBI, Schroeder was 2-2 with two RBI, and Kirchhoff ended the night 2-4 with 2 RBI.
Atlantic Head Coach Terry Hinzmann made these comments following the victory.
Bryn Lamp picked up the win in the circle, striking out two, and did not allow a walk.
The Trojans opened up a 4-0 lead through the top of the second inning. The Cardinals plated two runs in the bottom of the second, and the Trojans followed with four runs in the third, and added seven more runs in the top of the fourth to seal the deal.
Atlantic is now 18-2 on the season, and travels to Shenandoah on Thursday night.
