(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa Board of Regents is considering a pilot program that would let some students lock in their tuition rate for four years.
The proposal would allow eligible Iowa undergraduate students to pay a one-time premium equal to ten percent of their first-year base tuition. In return, their tuition would stay the same for four academic years, even if rates go up. Regents also recently voted to increase in-state tuition by 3%.
To qualify, students must be Iowa residents and attend Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, or the University of Northern Iowa. The program could begin in the fall of 2027 at one Regent University.
