(Atlantic) Atlantic resident Shawn Sarsfield is passionate about helping those in need, and he is putting that passion to work in his hometown by assisting residents with property upkeep. He is leading KAB, which stands for “Keep Atlantic Beautiful,” with a mission centered on taking “Pride in our Properties, and Strength in Our Communities.”
Sarsfield notes that Atlantic has an older population, many of whom may not have family nearby. That is where KAB volunteers step in, offering hands-on assistance and support. Currently, about 30 volunteers have committed to the cause, and Sarsfield is looking for more, with a special focus on engaging the younger generation in the community.
Volunteers can contribute in a variety of ways beyond physical labor, including reaching out to residents or providing financial support for tools and supplies such as rakes and shovels.
“Keep Atlantic Beautiful” is dedicated to building a stronger community through action. By promoting property pride, cleanliness, and accountability, the organization encourages residents to take ownership of their surroundings and work together to showcase Atlantic as one of Iowa’s best communities.
