(Greenfield) Adair County Auditor Mandy Berg read her formal letter of resignation, stepping down as both Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, during this morning’s regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors.
Due to the timing of the resignation, the Board of Supervisors must appoint a replacement within 40 days of the vacancy. A notice of the vacancy will be published in the paper for at least 4 days but no more than 20 days before the appointment.
Berg said county citizens have the right to petition for an election. Still, because of the timing of her resignation, state code requires it to be held during the November General Election rather than as a special election.
Berg said there is no filing for this position; it must be filled through a party convention.
Supervisor Jodie Hoadley…
The Adair County Board of Supervisors regretfully accepted Berg’s resignation, effective June 4, 2026, and announced a going-away party for her on June 2.
