(Elk Horn, IA) — The State Qualifying Track and Field meet is less than two weeks away and Exira EHK will not have to go far — the Spartans will be at Audubon next Thursday. The goal this year for Head Coach Kevin Brown is end a recent drought of sending an athlete to the blue oval but he believes this will be their year. For the girls, Taryn Petersen ranks in the top five in the district in the 100, 200 and could be the #1 seed in the 400 according to Brown
Michelle Wilson has moved from the mid distance to the long distance runs and Brown says she has adapted well
Other girls Brown highlights is Olivia Poldberg who has consistently lowered her time in the 400 Hurdles.
For the boys, Austin Rasmussen has added the 800 to the one mile and two mile and it has paid off says Brown but he is still not sure if he will run all three at districts
Other boys that Brown highlights is Rye Butler and John Ty in the sprints; Jack Lassek in the 400 and Anthony Young in the throws.
Exira EHK will be at the Rolling Valley Conference meet Tuesday in Woodbine.
