(Atlantic) Funeral services are pending for a longtime public servant from Atlantic, Iowa, who served as an at-large member of the city council for nearly a decade.
Gerald Brink was first appointed to the Atlantic City Council in September 2016 by the mayor to fill a vacancy. He subsequently won election to the at-large seat and was re-elected, serving the community for about nine years.
During his tenure, Brink participated actively in city governance, contributing to council discussions, ordinances, and policy decisions. Records from council meetings show his involvement in routine governance matters, including budgets, licensing, infrastructure, and zoning.
Following Gerald Brink’s resignation from the Atlantic City Council, City Administrator John Lund stated, “Gerald has spent his entire life serving and advocating for others and, above all, has been a believer that Atlantic is a wonderful place to live and do business,” said Lund. “He has always spoken honestly, plainly, and directly while showing concern for the well-being of others and always done what is best for Atlantic.”
Gerald Brink, 82, passed away on Monday at Allen Place in Atlantic. The Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic is in charge of the arrangements.
