(Washington D.C) The Pentagon has identified four service members killed Sunday in a drone strike in Kuwait, including a soldier from West Des Moines, and Bellevue, Nebraska.
The Department of Defense identified one of the fallen soldiers as: Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines. Coady enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2023 and served as a 25B, Army Information Technology Specialist. His awards and decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon. Coady was a 2023 graduate of West Des Moines Valley who enlisted in the Army Reserve that same year. He was a sophomore at Drake University.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Defense identified the soldier from Nebraska as Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska. U.S. Army Reserve, Tietjens enlisted in the National Guard in 2005 as a 92A, Automated Logistics Specialist. She transferred to the Army Reserve in 2006 and deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019. Sgt. Tietjens military awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device.
The two other soldiers killed are identified as Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, four Army Reserve soldiers died when a drone struck a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. The attack occurred one day after the United States and Israel began military operations against Iran, which responded with retaliatory strikes. Two additional victims in the strike have not yet been publicly identified.
