(Guthrie Center, IA) — At Tuesday’s regular meeting, the Guthrie County Supervisors have still not come to a resolution on the formation of a committee to discuss the EMS issue.
The subject did not come up on last week’s agenda but this time, Supervisor Steve Smith went through areas of Guthrie County who could be on the committee and what it would look like. He narrowed things down to Adair, Bayard, Guthrie Center, Panora, and Stuart plus someone in the western half of the county plus the Sheriff and two supervisors for a total of 9 members. Other representatives could be on a supporting ad hoc committee says Smith
Smith says the person from each area serving on the EMS committee could be an elected official or a first responder
One of the issues that Guthrie County went through in this process the last time was the make up of the committee to discuss EMS county wide was not made up of people to make a decision. Supervisor Chair Maggie Armstrong wants to avoid that
After about 20 minutes of conversation, the supervisors again did not make a final decision on the committee and there was no vote. The EMS as an essential service will be on the agenda when the supervisors meet next Tuesday.
