(Harlan, IA) — Harlan will open their girls basketball season tonight and Head Coach Zach Klasssen will have to replace three seniors who all averaged in double figures last year. Aubrey Schwieso (15.3 ppg), Grace Albertsen (15.0) and olly Swensen (10.0) all put the orange ball through the nylon but the Cyclones do return Junior Kenzley Bruck (11.3 ppg) this year. Defenses will stick to her like glue so Klassen says she will have to adjust
Junior Brinley Van Baale (4.6 ppg) will take over the point guard spot. Senior Addison Wicks was the primary player off the bench and her role will increase this season says Klassen
Senior Kate Koesters and Junior Avery Manz will round out the starting line-up says Klassen. Senior Lauren Schmitz will be first off the bench and Juniors Taylor Heese and Aubree Wegner will be asked to contribute. Harlan lost in the regional semifinals last year to Atlantic and with so many new players Klassen thinks they will have something to prove
Harlan has back to back tough games to start the season — tonight they host 2A #2 Treynor and will face 1A #1 St. Albert next week.
