(Red Oak) The Red Oak Police Department has kicked off its 10th Annual Toys for Tots event, aiming to brighten the holidays for children and families in need across Montgomery County.
Last year, the program provided gifts to more than 187 children, and organizers hope to surpass that number in 2025.
The department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0–14, as well as monetary donations. Checks may be made payable to Behind the Shields, and Venmo contributions can be sent to @Behindtheshields. Donations are accepted through December 17th.
Toys may be dropped off at several locations throughout Red Oak and Villisca, including: Red Oak Police Department, Fareway, Red Oak Express, YMCA, Val’s Sugar Shack, Dollar General, Tractor Supply, Family Dollar, Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak Library, Bomgaars, Villisca City Hall, Honeyman Drug (Villisca), Anderson Vet (Villisca), and FMTC (Villisca).
Families may sign up children ages 0–14 to receive toys. A birth certificate or medical card is required. Sign-ups will take place Thursday, Dec. 4, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at Fareway Meat & Grocery. The deadline to register is Dec. 5.
