(Avoca, IA) — AHSTW girls basketball has everybody coming back this season going into tonight’s season opener– the Lady Vikes had no seniors last year and went 8-15. Head Coach Jason McCall used 11 different players in the starting line up looking for the right combination. He thinks things are a little more defined this year and it is centered around Junior Bella Lamp. She suffered a severe injury during track season last spring and has worked her back to being 100 percent healthy. Lamp led the team in scoring (8.7 ppg), assists, and steals and McCall needs her on the floor
Other juniors for AHSTW include Addison Carroll (7.0 ppg) and Macey Goshorn (4.0 ppg) who have made strides says McCall
Sophomores Clara Pace (6.4 ppg) and Etta Partlow (4.0 ppg) got significant playing time last year and McCall hopes they develop. Senior Ava Paulsen (3.2 ppg) will be expected to be a leader. Senior Makenna Paulsen is injured to start the season but McCall hopes she will come back soon. The Lady Vikes will most certainly need to reduce their turnovers — they averaged nearly 23 a game last year
AHSTW will open at Woodbine tonight and visit CAM tomorrow.
