(Audubon, IA) — The Audubon football team will play in the 8 Man Semifinals at UNI Dome in Cedar Falls on Wednesday morning against #1 ranked Bishop Garrigan, coverage on KSOM. Junior Hayden Larsen has been one of the key playmakers on defense for the Wheelers.
When he was in 7th grade, Larsen was a water boy on the team and remembers walking on the Dome turf and watching some of his heroes. Now he gets a chance to follow in their footsteps
Last Thursday, Audubon beat Iowa Valley 26-19 in the Quarterfinals. One of the biggest plays of the game was when Larsen was able to recover a bad snap on a punt late in the 4th quarter and kick it away. Instead of Iowa Valley starting at the Audubon 20 yard line, they started their final drive at their own 20 on the last drive of the game
Larsen had only had to punt the ball twice before last week’s game where he kicked it five times. Audubon had gotten a lot of credit for their offense and their defense but the Wheelers special teams has been special all year as well
The next step is #1 ranked Bishop Garrigan this Wednesday in the 8 Man semifinals — Larsen says its going to be a challenge
Audubon plays Bishop Garrigan Wednesday morning at the UNI Dome in the 8 Man semis, Kickoff 10 am, Pre Game 9:30 am on KSOM.
