(Atlantic) The Atlantic Police Department has announced plans for its annual Christmas programs aimed at helping Cass County families have a joyful holiday season.
The “Family Dreams Christmas” program, organized by the Atlantic Police Reserves, will take place on Saturday, December 20th. Applications and nominations are now open for families in need. Selected families will be taken shopping at local businesses. Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. on December 9th and can be accessed via the QR code on the department’s announcement or through an online link available on the Police Department’s Facebook page.
The “Shop with a Cop” program will follow on Sunday, December 21st. This event pairs Cass County children with officers for an afternoon of shopping at the Atlantic Walmart. The department notes that no applications or nominations are accepted for this program.
The department emphasized that both programs rely on community donations and support. Those wishing to contribute can stop by the Atlantic Police Department or contact officers to arrange a donation.
Last year, the programs helped 99 children and 21 adults from 34 Cass County families enjoy a brighter Christmas. Police officials say they look forward to continuing that success in 2025.
