(Audubon, IA) — In their final home game of the season, Audubon completely dominated Montezuma 82-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the 8 Man playoffs on Friday night.
Montezuma was held to just 54 yards of total offense and the Braves had minus 5 yards rushing in the game.
Audubon won the toss and decided to take the football — it only took them two plays to get on the scoreboard as Mason Kasperbauer carried it 38 yards for the opening score to make it 8-0. Montezuma’s first drive stalled and they were forced to punt but the Wheelers blocked it and two plays later, Aiden Kjergaard raced 26 yards for the touchdown to make it 16-0.
That was pretty much the game — Montezuma could not convert on key 4th downs and had a couple of key drops on passing plays. Kjergaard added another 26 yard TD and Kasperbauer had two more TD runs and Audubon led 40-0 at the end of the first quarter to make it running clock.
Kjergaard added a 42 yard TD run early in the 2nd quarter and then the Sophomore QB found Brody Weber on a 41 yard TD pass and Kjergaard added his 5th rushing TD on the night from 10 yards out to make it 62-0 at the half.
Brody Otten added an 8 yard TD run and Paxton Beane scored two TDs in the 4th quarter to complete the scoring.
Audubon will advance to the quarterfinals and will visit Iowa Valley next Thursday night in Marengo, IA, coverage on KSOM.
