Peggy Ann Klahn, daughter of Dale and Wilma (Miers) Hollar, was born on January 6, 1946, in Perry, Iowa. She grew up in Perry and graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1964.
During high school, she worked at Woolworth’s in Perry, and after Woolworth’s went to work for a loan company. Later she moved to Shelby where she worked for REM Leadway for over 38 years. During her time in Shelby she met and married Fred Klahn on August 6, 1977, at the Shelby Presbyterian Church.
Peggy was involved in many activities during her lifetime, such as: a Girl Scout Leader, a Sunday School Teacher, and her most favorite, a grandmother. She loved camping, crafting, having coffee with friends, walking and sitting outside, watching the Hallmark Channel, having her family around and delighted in attending her grandchildren’s various activities.
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Peggy passed away at Myrtue Medical Center having attained the age of 79 years, 9 months and 23 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Wilma; husband Fred Klahn; her infant daughter, Susan, and sister Judy Skinner.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Dawn and husband Ron Bauer of Shelby, Iowa; Dustin and wife Cheslie Kirkhart of Shelby, Iowa; Jessica and husband Jason Rold of Avoca, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Nathan and wife Angelene Bauer, Anna and husband Rhett Welsh, Ethan Kirkhart, Kaeden and Kavin Rold, and Kylie Kirkhart; 2 great-grandsons: Sebastian and Sawyer Bauer; brother Gary Hollar of Sun Lakes, Arizona; other family and many friends.
