(Guthrie Center, IA) — At Tuesday’s meeting, the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors passed the final consideration of Resolution 26-10 declaring emergency medical services as an essential service in Guthrie County by a 4-1 vote with Supervisor Mike Dickson voting against. The voters in Guthrie County had voted that down in the last election. The county is trying to move away from the current patchwork system to a more stable local funding and tax supported model.
In an unrelated measure, Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber asked the board to declare the county as a fiscal agent for the Guthrie County First Responders which has been working out of the Public Health department
The Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve becoming a fiscal agent for the first responders.
The Supervisors also canceled the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th because it is Election Day and moved the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 11 to the following day on November because of Veterans Day.
