(Undated) — Researchers are warning about pain and medical issues coming from excessive smartphone use.
What’s called tech neck is a strain when someone holds their head forward for long periods of time to look at their phone. There’s new findings in the International Journal of Environmental Sciences that say spinal and other problems are associated with heavy smartphone use among college-aged people.
In an article published this month in the European Spine Journal, researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago wrote if something isn’t done, people will develop early-onset spinal degeneration and other issues that could last a lifetime.
