(Avoca, IA) — It is must win time for AHSTW — the Vikings need a win this week over Central Decatur to make the playoffs. They are coming off two straight losses — 32-6 to Mount Ayr and 42-14 last week to AC/GC. Head Coach Davis Pattee does not believe the team needs a pep talk — they understand the situation and are ready for the challenge
The Vikings are led by Senior Drew Lee who has 589 yards rushing and is averaging nearly 10 yards a carry — plus 9 catches for 133 yards — plus 38 tackles and 4.5 TFLs. Pattee says there are a lot of pluses for Lee who is a quiet leader of the football team
Pattee says they were down a lineman going into the AC/GC game and lost another one early which did not help. He is not sure about their availability this week against the Cardinals but did take some positives in the loss to the Chargers
If AHSTW wins and Southwest Valley beats Mount Ayr this week, there would be a three way tie for the 3rd seed in Class A, District 7. If Mount Ayr wins and AHSTW wins, the Vikings would be the four seed. If Mount Ayr wins and AHSTW loses, the Vikings would win the tiebreaker over the Timberwolves.
