(Montgomery Co.) A Red Oak woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Monday evening.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. when Montgomery County Communications received an iPhone crash detection alert in the 1700 block of Highway 48 near the East Nishnabotna River bridge.
Red Oak Fire and Rescue and Red Oak Police Officers found a 2008 Kia Sorento in the west ditch on the south side of the bridge with heavy front-end damage and the driver trapped inside. The driver was identified as 30-year-old Paige Marie Clark of Red Oak.
An investigation determined that Clark was traveling north on Highway 48 when, for unknown reasons, she crossed the southbound lane and entered the west ditch. The vehicle struck several trees on the driver’s side before spinning 180 degrees and coming to rest facing south on all four tires.
Clark was extricated by Red Oak Fire and Rescue personnel and transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
