Scott Mitchell Mueller, born on August 6, 1957, in Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at home on October 6, 2025, at the age of 68. He was the beloved son of Henry ‘Hank’ and Janice ‘Jan’ Mueller and the middle child of five siblings.
Scott spent his early years on the family farm and graduated from Griswold Community School in 1976. He initially moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where he worked in construction before returning to the Griswold area in 1982. There, he continued his construction career and was a proud member of Iron Workers Union 21. In 1992, Scott founded STI Guttering, a business he successfully ran until his retirement in 2022 due to health reasons.
On August 27, 2016, Scott married Marcia Schaberg/Shaw. Together, they shared a love for the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed outdoor activities such as motorcycling, boating, and bicycling with friends and family. Scott also cherished snowmobile riding, often embarking on trips to snowy destinations in his younger years.
Scott is survived by his loving wife Marcia, his mother Jan, his siblings Becky (Frank) Sunderman, Sue (Darrel) Smith, Melanie (Brent) Thompson, and Dan Mueller. He is also survived by his stepson Justin (Lyndsey) Shaw of Atlantic, stepdaughter Allison Shaw of Griswold, five step-grandchildren Shawn, Cale, Cheyenne, Addison, and Maddison, and one step-great-grandson Wesson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Hank in 1982, his stepfather Clarence ‘Bill’ Conn in 1991, and his son Mitchell John Mueller in 1986.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Griswold Community Building from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
