Roberta Marie “Bert” Shellberg, the daughter of Wayne Scott and Alberta Alice (Lee) Kimpson, was born March 5, 1939, in Adams County, IA. Bert died October 6, 2025, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, IA, at the age of 86 years.
Bert attended Griswold High School and lived in several different places including Omaha, NE, before returning to Griswold in the mid 80’s. She always worked in food service and managed restaurants in Colorado, Grant, Elliott, and Griswold Golf Course. Bert enjoyed gardening, golfing, and cooking and was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church and the Lincoln Center Church.
She is survived by her children, Theresa Sempek (Bob) of Omaha, NE, Scott Moore (Nicki) of Tulsa, OK, and Lowin Hawkins (Keith) of Logan, IA; step daughters Patricia, Teresa, Tami, Linda, Jaci, and their families; grandchildren: Derek, Tom, Joe, Tylor, Haley, Jacob, Tiffany, Titan, Lakota, Alexa; nine great grandchildren; her siblings, Aneita Gregory, Stan Kimpson (Beth), and Steve Kimpson.
She is preceded in death by her children: Danny and Kevin Forsyth, and Tiffany Moore; her husband Tom Shellberg; step daughter Cathy Wyman; her parents; and siblings: Raymond, Russell, Delores, Dorothy, and Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Griswold United Methodist Church in Griswold. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be in the Lincoln Center Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
