(Elk Horn, IA) — Exira EHK will host CAM in a Rolling Valley Conference volleyball match tonight, coverage on KSOM.
The Spartans come in to the match in a tie for 2nd place in the conference with Boyer Valley at 5-1 and a half game behind Coon Rapids Bayard. Exira EHK is led by Petersen cousins — Jaelynn has 223 kills, 124 digs, 33 blocks, and 23 aces while Taryn has 156 kills, 160 digs, 15 blocks and 39 aces. Head Coach Derek Reischauer says they have been the dynamic duo
Exira EHK has won 5 in a row coming into tonight’s match — beating Woodbine, Paton Churdan, Ar-We-Va, Boyer Valley and Glidden Ralston. Reischauer says CAM will present some problems because they have size
The Cougars are in 4th place in the conference at 3-2 and are led by Ruthie Rich with 106 kills, Ada Hansen with 91 kills, and Krista James with 79 kills. Five players have over 100 digs led by Kendra Nelson with 154. James has 29 blocks and Courtney Follmann leads with 27 aces but Head Coach Hilary Zimmerline has not been pleased with CAM’s service game
Follmann has 255 assists as the setter but gets a chance to hit when Jaci Eden comes into the rotation and Follmann has added 55 kills. Zimmerline is happy with the communication between the hitters and her setter
Zimmerline says Exira EHK is all about Jaelynn and Taryn Petersen
CAM had won 10 in a row in the series but Exira EHK has won the last 3. CAM is 8-12, Exira EHK 9-10, first serve at 6:00
