(Lincoln, NE) — Nebraska had the lead, lost it, then got it back in the 4th quarter and beat Michigan St. 38-27 on Saturday.
The Huskers jumped to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 2 yard TD run from Emmett Johnson and Nebraska blocked a punt and returned it for another score. Michigan St. got on the board early in the 2nd quarter on a short TD pass from Alessio Milivojevic to Jack Velling but the Huskers held a 14-7 halftime lead.
Michigan St. tied the game in the 3rd quarter on a 16 yard TD run from Aiden Chiles. Dylan Raiola was immediately picked off on Nebraska’s next possession and Chiles scored from 4 yards out to give the Spartans a 21-14 lead.
The Huskers have one of the best passing offenses in the country and Raiola responded with a 45 yard pass to Jacory Barney and 2 plays later, Johnson got loose on a 23 yard TD run to tie the game at 21-21.
On the ensuing kickoff, Michigan St. fumbled and the Huskers turned it into a 27 yard field goal from Kyle Cunanan to take a 24-21 lead.
Michigan St. went 3 and out on their next 2 possessions and Raiola went back to the air and hit Nyziah Hunter on a 59 yard TD pass and Nebraska had a two score lead 31-21. Johnson added an 11 yard TD run to put the icing on the cake.
Michigan St. falls to 3-2, 0-2 while Nebraska is 4-1, 1-1 — the Huskers visit Maryland next Saturday.
