(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC played an impressive game last week in a non-district game against Madrid, winning 33-15. Head Coach Cody Matthewson decided to make a switch on offense, moving Senior Brexton Schneider from the halfback spot to fullback. Schneider responded with 24 carries for 198 yards and 3 TD. Matthewson learned from the previous week that teams were gearing up to stop the outside running game so he boosted the inside game
Schneider’s old spot was filled by Junior Ryder Cline who now will go both ways also playing linebacker. Matthewson also was concerned about his team’s conditioning after the Mount Ayr game so he made some changes there too and it paid off against Madrid
Another area for concern for Matthewson is his pass defense and they will be tested in that area tonight as the Chargers host Central Decatur. The Cardinals are winless but they like to throw the football more than they run it. Senior QB Asher Norman has thrown for 1,433 yards and 10 TD but has 16 interceptions. Matthewson emphasized playing the pass in the off season so his boys will be prepared
#4 AC/GC at 5-0 hosts 2-3 Central Decatur.
