(Shenandoah) The Riverside boys’ cross country team secured another impressive team victory Thursday night at the Shenandoah Invitational. The Bulldogs dominated the 16-team field, finishing with just 36 points to take first place. Lewis Central followed with 55 points for second, while Red Oak took third with 84 points.
Riverside’s success came from a strong pack performance, placing three runners in the top five and all five scoring runners in the top 15. Dawson Henderson and Brody Henderson led the way with third- and fourth-place finishes, clocking times of 16:48.56 and 16:48.85. Owen Fenner followed closely in fifth at 16:49.19. Cruz Jaquez (11th) and Eli Hudnall (13th) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
Lewis Central had a strong showing up front, with Evan Lillie and Kevin Coots taking first and second overall. Lillie finished in 16:07.02, and Coots crossed in 16:32.84. The Titans also placed a third runner in the top ten, Joey Mazzella, 7th, to help secure their runner-up finish.
Red Oak continued its solid season, led by Emmanuel Grass in sixth and Hayden Hudnall in eighth. Osiel Pedersen (14th), Casey Johnson (28th), and Bryce Williams (30th) contributed to the team’s third-place effort.
Atlantic placed sixth as a team, with Mason Betts leading the Trojans in ninth. He was followed by Thomas Engler (26th), Anthony Akers (32nd), Kouper Kinney (44th), and Preston Williams (48th) to complete the scoring.
