(Iowa City, IA) — The future just got brighter for Iowa women’s basketball — five star recruit McKenna Woliczko of San Jose, CA has committed to play for the Hawkeyes. She is the highest rated recruit to come to Iowa since Caitlin Clark in 2020. Woliczko (Wo–litch–ko) chose the Hawkeyes over South Carolina, Ohio St. and USC.
Woliczko is a 6-2 forward who plays for Archbishop Mitty in San Jose and averages 22.1 points and 8.9 rebounds as a junior before her season ended with a knee injury. She was part of the 2024 USA Basketball Women’s U17 National team that won the gold medal at the World Cup.
Wolickzo is the first player to commit to Iowa’s recruiting class of 2026. According to ESPN, the Hawkeyes are still in the mix for another five star recruit Addison Bjorn from Riverside, Missouri and four star recruit Amari Byles from Texas. Highly recruited Addison Deal will be a freshman for Iowa this season.
