(Logan, IA) — Logan Magnolia overcame mistakes to beat Westwood 34-14 last week — the Panthers will visit winless West Monona this Friday.
QB Brodie Davis threw for 265 yards and 4 TD but had 3 interceptions in the win over the Rebels. Lo-Ma was minus 3 in the turnover margin which Head Coach Matt Straight says they had been good at this season. One area of focus for Straight was running the football and Junior Max Wingert had 16 carries for 148 yards including a 63 yard TD run
The Panthers defense held Westwood to just 74 yards passing and had a balanced tackle sheet. Straight did welcome back Senior Linebacker Tyson Jenkins to the line up — it was his first game back after an off-season injury but Straight says that Senior Wade Hawkins had his best game
West Monona does not throw the ball much — they run a similar offense to AC/GC, a triple option running game. Senior Elias Sorensen, Senior Chance Richards, and Junior Keagan Wiggs combine for just under 600 rushing yards. Straight says the Spartans surprised him when he watched the film
