(Harlan) Harlan and Carroll will face off in a district opener on Friday night. Both the Cyclones and the Tigers enter district play with (1-3) records, having navigated challenging non-district schedules.
Harlan is coming off a strong performance in a 28-0 shutout win over Denison-Schleswig last week. Head Coach Todd Bladt credited the victory to improved execution and the team meeting expectations.
Coach Bladt says both teams enter the contest in similar situations.
Bladt says the Tigers have a solid defense.
On the offensive side, the Tigers have rushed for 780 yards and passed for 267. A trio of receivers, including Mac Collison, Adam Malik, and Moyer Olberding, averages 15.7, 15.2, and 12.3 yards per catch, respectively.
Adam Malik leads the team with 521 yards on 93 carries and six touchdowns.
Carroll has rushed for 780 yards and passed for another 267. Cyclone quarterback Gabe Arkfeld has completed 54.6 percent of his passes for 675 yards and five touchdowns. Quentin Polking and Michael Rowedder lead the Tigers’ defense with 31.5 and 20.5 tackles, respectively.
Harlan enters the game with 425 rushing yards, led by Ayden Redmon. The junior running back has 35 carries for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Brody Bendorf and Hagen Sorensen lead the defense with 25 and 22 tackles, respectively.
The kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. in Carroll.
