(Oakland, IA) — Riverside’s Adaline Martens has seen tremendous success in her softball career and she will take those talents to the next level with Simpson College. Martens made the decision in the last week and she says she almost signed with the Storm on he day she visited. Her parents talked her into visiting another school and after going to Northwestern in Orange City, she still wanted to go to Simpson and says she simply followed her gut
Simpson has been an improving college softball program in the American Rivers Conference — the win total has risen each year for the last 4 years with 34 victories this past spring. Martens wants to be a part of that
In her four seasons at Riverside, Martens is a career .364 hitter. She has 125 total hits, 31 doubles, 8 triples, 3 HR, 62 RBI, has scored 104 runs and has only struck out 42 times in 343 at bats. She hit .483 this past season despite an injury that moved her from catcher to 2nd base. Despite her success, Martens says she has more to learn as she goes to college softball
She still has more work to do with Riverside — as she says do some “senior things.” She is running cross country this fall, she will play basketball in the winter, run track in the spring and then there is her senior softball season this coming summer and she cannot wait
Martens says she will major in exercise science at Simpson College in Indianola.
