(Ames) The Iowa Department of Transportation has upgraded its public feedback system with the launch of PublicInput.com, a new online engagement platform designed to make it easier for Iowans to share input on transportation projects.
The new system replaces the previous Bitly link with a more user-friendly portal, offering citizens a central hub to comment on projects that may impact their travels. The platform allows users to submit feedback by email, and for those without internet service, voicemail comments are also accepted.
DOT officials say the update will simplify online engagement, lower barriers to participation, and help the agency make more data-driven decisions. Public involvement remains a key part of project development, with opportunities ranging from online comments and videos to Open Houses and Public Hearings.
For traveler updates, the Iowa DOT continues to offer its 511 system at 511ia.org, by calling 511 in Iowa (800-288-1047 nationwide), or through the free 511 app. Users can also subscribe to “Your 511” to receive customized travel alerts by text or email.
