(Anita, IA) — The CAM-Audubon rivalry was a one sided affair on Friday night as the Wheelers dominated from beginning to end in a 66-0 victory.
Audubon’s offense was unstoppable and the defense was in the CAM backfield all night long, holding the Cougars to only 21 yards of total offense on the night.
The Wheelers Carson Wessel did fumble it on their opening drive and CAM had the ball at the Audubon 37 yard line but had to punt on a 3 and out. Aiden Kjergaard then broke a 67 yard TD run that got called back on a holding call but a couple minutes later, Kjergaard ripped off a 38 yard TD to make it 8-0.
Kayden Winther got a great return on the kickoff and once again CAM started in Audubon territory at the 38 but again went nowhere and had to punt it again.
Audubon had a bad snap end their next drive but Austin Christensen pinned CAM back to their own 4 yard line on a 55 yard punt — it was the first punt of the season by the Wheelers.
Cougars QB Zach Kauffman got picked off deep in his own territory by Kjergaard who returned it 6 yards for a TD to make it 16-0. Wessel added a 30 yard TD with 47 seconds left in the first quarter and it was 22-0.
Kasperbauer got an interception at the end of the first quarter and he dominated the 2nd quarter with TD runs of 11, 20 and 14 to make it 44-0 and it was running clock the entire 2nd half.
Wessel added two TD runs from 11 and 6 yards and Brody Otten got a 9 yard TD run to end the scoring.
