(Shelby Co) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the structure fire that occurred on Tuesday at 1108 3rd Street in Harlan.
Two victims, identified as 52-year-old Dominique Pontzius and 24-year-old Sebastian Pontzius, were located inside the residence. Dominique and Sebastian were mother and son. The medical examiner has determined their cause of death was due to the fire.
The investigation has determined the fire was intentionally set inside the home as an act of suicide for both individuals. No foul play is suspected, and no additional individuals were involved.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the families and loved one affected by the tragedy.
