(Coralville) The Iowa Department of Corrections has announced the death of inmate Timothy Duane Smith.
Smith, 59, was pronounced dead at 8:17 a.m. on September 9, 2025, in the palliative care unit of the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center.
He had been serving a sentence from Cass County for two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. Smith’s prison term began on August 9, 2018.
