(Greenfield) The Greenfield City Council voted in favor of putting a bond referendum on the November 4th election ballot for a new pool.
Renee Schwartz, with the Greenfield Pool Steering Committee, told the Adair County Board of Supervisors this morning that the committee has been working for nearly three years to study what other communities have for pools and what Greenfield should build for the future. She said they also examined the costs of fixing, reconstructing, and saving the current pool.
Schwartz said the cost to repair the pool is slightly less than the cost to build new.
Schwartz said the city’s bond referendum is for one million dollars. The committee has done some fundraising, but they still need significant funds, so they asked the Adair County Supervisors if any county funding could be committed.
The Board will need to review their options and place the matter back on their agenda.
The proposed pool would feature zero-depth entry, swimming lanes, diving boards, and a basketball hoop, with a focus on promoting community wellness and health.
