(Atlantic, Iowa) This year, September 11th falls on a Thursday, so Atlantic’s Produce in the Park farmers market’s theme this week is “Emergency Responders Night.” The 4:30-6:30 PM event at the Atlantic City Park this Thursday is designed to recognize the role emergency responders play in the local community. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department will be bringing their K9 dog, Chase, who has been trained to assist the team, along with a sheriff’s office vehicle and a drone display. The Atlantic Fire Department will be bringing a fire truck, and Erik Johnson will be sharing information on the Iowa United 1st Aid program and how area residents can support the program. The Atlantic Police Department and additional first responders are expected to also attend the event.
According to the Press release, In addition to local emergency responders, market attendees will find a free bounce house sponsored by the YMCA, live music by Jenna Nevs, face painting by Sarah Selders, and Pim’s Thai Food Truck serving pad thai, spicy chicken, dumplings, spring rolls, boba teas, and fruit chiller drinks.
Produce vendors at the park will be selling peppers (hot and sweet), green beans, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, zucchini, cucumbers, basil, and garlic. A favorite produce item this time of year is snack peppers, sweet little peppers that are a simple, easy snack.
In addition to fresh produce, this week’s farmers market offers local meat (pork and chicken), farm-fresh eggs, local honey, freeze-dried snacks (fruits, vegetables, and candy), and baked goods and desserts, along with arts and crafts vendors selling leather wallets and purses, earrings, paintings, cut and polished rocks, garden decorations and potted plants, compost, and more.
