(Lewis) The 2025 Teal season opened on Saturday, (September 6), and closes on September 14th.
John Lorenzen, Fisheries Biologist, appeared on the KSOM DNR report stating the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service monitors duck populations and sets season length based on duck numbers. He said Teal numbers have been on a downward trend in the last ten years, which is why we have fewer days to hunt them this year.
Lorenzen says the Teal season does have different shooting hours compared to normal waterfowl hunting seasons, the difference being that shooting hours start at sunrise instead of half an hour before sunrise. He said this is to aid in duck identification so only Teal are harvested.
