(Glenwood) The Glenwood football team enters week two with momentum. The Rams defeated Atlantic 32-7 last Friday night. Glenwood travels to Harlan this week to take on the Harlan Cyclones.
Glenwood Head football Coach Cory Faust says the front lineman stood out last Friday night. He mentioned the likes of Mason Koehler, Josh and Jordan Taylor, Jacob Aust on the defensive line, Drake Buthe, and T.J. Schmitt.
The Rams’ aerial attack was impressive from the start. First-year starting quarterback Ben Carlo completed 11 of 18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Jack Johnson, Ethan Eiseman, and Kayden Crouch each hauled in touchdown passes. Crouch led the receiving corps with three catches for 91 yards.
Next up is Harlan. The Cyclones fell short to Underwood last Friday night, 33-29. Coach Faust says every year, you can tell the same things about Harlan. They have good players, they can run and pass the ball, they play hard, and they are well-coached.
Coach Faust says they do not have just one or two guys; it is eleven or more players that stand out. With that said, senior quarterback Gabe Arkfeld is probably the most well-known player on the team. Last week, the senior completed 17-29 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Glenwood kicker Aaron Christian had an outstanding first game. The senior went four-for-four, kicking field goals. His longest was 44 yards.
The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Merrill Field in Harlan.
