(Guthrie Center, IA) — Before the game, somebody predicted that AC/GC would not throw a pass all night. They were right. The Chargers pounded it left and right and right up the middle on their way to a 40-0 win over Panorama on Thursday night.
The Panthers knew it was coming but it did not matter as AC/GC amassed over 300 rushing yards and did not attempt one pass. Panorama did not help its own cause when they fumbled it on the 2nd play from scrimmage and the Chargers used a short field as Angel Martinez bulled into the end zone for a 1 yard score to make it 7-0.
Panorama’s 2nd drive stalled quickly and the punt pinned the Chargers on their own 6 but AC/GC got to the 26 and on 3rd and 4, Panorama stacked the line of scrimmage but Joe Crawford broke free for a 74 yard TD scamper and it was 14-0.
Early in the 2nd quarter, an AC/GC drive stalled but Oliver Wetzel showed off his strong leg with a 43 yard field goal.
On the Panthers next drive, they went 3 and out but the snap on the punt went off line and rolled out of the end zone for a safety to make it 19-0.
QB Tommy Skram added a 5 yard TD just before the end of the half and it was 26-0.
Crawford added a 20 yard TD on the first drive of the 2nd half and then Kinnick Froelich picked off a Panorama and returned it 25 yards for a TD and that made it running clock and ended the scoring.
Crawford had 8 carries for 133 yards and 2 TD to lead the AC/GC attack.
Angel Martinez had 13 carries for 69 yards and a TD; Tommy Skram had 6 carries for 45 yards and a TD. Brexton Schneider had 5 carries for 50 yards.
Panorama was held to just 25 yards rushing. QB Gavin Lindstrom was 7-18 passing for 76 yards and an INT.
