(Atlantic) Longtime Atlantic City Councilman Gerald Brink is resigning. Atlantic City Administrator John Lund issued a press release on Thursday evening.
“It is with great sadness that I must inform you that one of our At-Large Councilmembers, Gerald Brink will be resigning his seat on the City Council, effective September 1, 2025, for health reasons, ” stated Lund. “Mayor Dave Jones appointed Gerald to replace outgoing Councilman Bob Cord to the At-Large Council seat during the September 9, 2016, City Council meeting. Having easily won election twice since then. Gerald has honorably served on the City Council for nearly nine years. City staff, Councilmembers past and present. The Mayor, and we are all saddened by his resignation.”
“Gerald has spent his entire life serving and advocating for others and above all, been a believer that Atlantic is a wonderful place to live and do business,” said Lund. “He has always spoken honestly, plainly, and directly while showing concern for the wellbeing of others and always done what is best for Atlantic. He will be greatly missed as a Councilmember, though we believe we will continue to see and hear from him on the other side of the Council Chamber. Mr. Brink will always be welcome to cause a ruckus in the audience any time he thinks it appropriate.
“In all seriousness, we respect his decision and wish him the very best. Accordingly, the Mayor and the entire City Council would like the community to take a moment to pause and appreciate Gerald’s public service, both on the City Council and in many other capacities over the years.”
